Recently, over the course of six months, TransitScreen completed the modernization of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s network of real-time Hub Sign information displays throughout the Bay Area.
More than 37 high-profile locations throughout the Bay Area were updated, including BART and Caltrain stations and the temporary Transbay Terminal. These locations include nearly 100 screens with nearby rail, bus, and ferry data. These signs include real-time transit options from 24 different service providers (and growing).
TransitScreen performed a full redesign of the displays to meet MTC’s wayfinding guidelines, as well as legibility standards. The clear, straightforward design makes it easy for travelers to see departure times for trains at the station and nearby connections to local buses or ferries.
Additionally, TransitScreen’s design provides travelers with relevant service alerts for their trip. These alerts range from critical system-wide disruptions, to delays on certain routes, to stop relocations.
Behind the scenes, the Hub Signs now rely on TransitScreen’s robust data-handling capabilities and simple content management. At the same time, MTC upgraded the data services to improve real-time information and service alerts.
